Local-first catalog tools

Open technical catalogs locally.

Catalog Pantry is a public product family for finding manufacturer technical catalogs with a local-first workflow and keeping the original source within reach.

The first product

Catalog Pantry Explorer is a catalog viewer in Chrome's Side Panel. It opens a PDF selected by the user, checks a bounded reviewed index for model locations, and hands off to an official manufacturer page only when the user asks it to.

Catalog Pantry Explorer

Local PDFs, a reviewed index, Provider and Catalog metadata, clips, and history in one Side Panel.

The data boundary

PDF text, images, OCR, bbox or vector data, searches, clips, history, and personal settings are not sent to the developer's server by default. Unknown product information and locations remain unknown.

Handled on your device

  • The catalog PDF you select and its rendered pages
  • Model searches, reviewed page or bbox records, and personal settings
  • Official-page clips, notes, and history

Opened only by an explicit action

  • Official product pages for registered manufacturers
  • Downloads of the selected official catalog PDF
  • The publisher's contact form when you choose to open it

Public product, separate internal system

Catalog Pantry is the public product family that includes Catalog Pantry Explorer. Kaizu Electric's internal Catalog Platform web application is a separate product and deployment. Its internal PDFs, product database, Projects, authentication, and business data are not connected to this public site.
